Fiesta Mexican Catering Collaboration
Recently I was commissioned to make a logo for a family-owned Mexican catering company in Southern Indiana. I created a logo and then designed business cards as well as a letter head.
I was originally asked by an associate of the company to help create a logo that would be painted onto the side of a delivery van. I was given a parameter to follow based on a simple order sheet put together with a few clip art images of a sombrero and maracas as well as all the necessary contact information and went to work. The original idea I came up with was vibrant, colorful, and detailed in a way that was very eye-catching. While the design was approved by the owner, it was decided that the overall look should be simpler, so I cut all the extra, unneeded bits and decided to incorporate them differently. The letterhead and business cards ended up utilizing the border that once encompassed the entire logo and the maracas were removed entirely. The sombrero was also cut down into a simple orange without all the extra trimmings. I spent some time playing around with where information should be placed and whether certain designs were necessary or should be simplified and over all, the final design is simple and sleek, but still colorful and interesting to look at.
