My original design meant to be placed onto the side of a catering van. I had the dimensions of 2' x 2' to work with. I sent them the stencil and from there, the detailing was simplified.

Due to the simplification of the sign they made with the stencil I sent, I tested the use of a different font and added the maracas as a way to balance the hat. It was too busy for the client and both were discarded.

While I waited on a response, I began work on the business cards. Once again keeping the scalloped boarder present, I added a plate of food just to see how it would look. When word got back on the maracas, I figured the image wouldn't work, but sent it anyway to see. It was, of course, too busy, so the idea was scrapped.

With ideas being narrowed down by what was not wanted by the client, I knew the boarder would have to go. Still, I hoped to implement it in some way as it really fit the aesthetic.
With the arch over the food being inspiration, I decided to encase the logo, but very quickly scrapped the idea. In the end, the logo was left on it's own, bring a nice, clean look, while the scalloped boarder was instead arched and used on the business cards as a means of separation.

I attempted to still use the boarders in their entirety on the letter head, but, even with the larger dimensions to fill, the look was way too cluttered and nowhere near the sleek, straightforward idea the client had. In the end, I only needed to remove the bottom boarder and change the fonts to get the streamlined look that was both pleasing the eye as well as the client.
