Mick's Picks Collaboration
I was asked by the company Mick's Picks to create a set of picks to be part of their new on-going series of limited edition, collector guitar picks. The only prompt I was given was "no unicorns and rainbows", which was fine by me. My first idea was to create a skull and perhaps have the theme be "skull and crossbones" but then a new idea came to me: steampunk. Thus this is what came to be. I knew right away that the theme was going to have a lot of gears, I just had to be smart with my placement. Originally, I started with a close up of a pocket watch, focusing more on the mechanisms underneath, but it wasn't translating nice so I went instead zoomed out to encompass the watch, which turned out much nicer and helped lead into the rest of the designs. I did a lot of research into the Steampunk culture and took bits and pieces that I knew I would want and spent a lot of time playing around.
There were some issues on both ends that needed to be dealt with as it was a bit of a learning experience for us both, but in the end, the product came out well.
